GENUINE, REAL CONNECTIONS - DEFEAT LONELINESS
“People who have good relationships at home are more effective in the marketplace.” Zig Ziglar
This quote speaks to me because it defines, very simply, the whole purpose of this blog.
Without real human connections, accomplishments mean nothing.
I had a “catch up” coffee date with some girlfriends from back home (Texas) last night, and the experience really opened my eyes up to this fact.
It at first felt very casual telling them all of the things I had been up to the past few years – filming a movie, short films, pilots, teaching fitness classes, studying Acting for Film and personal training, starting a blog and YouTube channel, etc…
But then I realized – they were so genuinely excited for me. I mean SO excited! They didn’t want me to stop talking! It was a very cool feeling.
That’s when I thought – what does life really mean without human connections? The answer, to me, stuck out life a sore thumb… little to nothing.
Sure, accomplishing all of these things is great, but if I never had anyone to share my excitement with, does it really mean anything at all?
I’m very blessed to have some close connections and some deep, meaningful relationships, but I am also aware that not everyone has that. I want to encourage you, if you don’t currently make it a point to become important in someone’s life, please start now.
The feeling of loneliness is not a good feeling; it can bring down even the strongest of people.
Here comes my second point, if you do not believe in a God, I urge you to do a little more research. This may annoy some people, but I’m telling you from the bottom of my heart – believing there is a God who loves you and wants the best for you can save your life. In the loneliest of times, when you feel like no one is there or no one cares, He is ALWAYS there, and he always cares.
We all have feelings of loneliness at times, they are real, valid feelings, and I want you to know you are never alone or unworthy.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
Love & light,
Emily xoxo
